Move to These Booming Cities in Alabama

Looking for natural beauty, deep roots in American history, and a low cost of living? Settle down in the Heart of Dixie.

Alabama is the land of great weather year-round, highly ranked academic institutions, and ample employment opportunities.

If you’re looking to head down south, check out one of these great cities to find a home in.

Birmingham

Check out Birmingham homes for sale if you’re looking for a beautiful city full of entertainment.

Birmingham has plenty of state parks and trails for outdoor lovers, places like Shoal Creek and Red Mountain Park.

Browse the Birmingham Museum of Art for creative inspiration, or catch a show at the Alabama Theatre.

The city was a pivotal place in American history during the Civil Rights Movement, and is the best place to be educated on the past while looking towards the future. Check out places like the Civil Rights Institute to get a sense of what the city has gone through.

The cost of living here is 19 percent lower than the national average, with unemployment rates sitting at 3.1 percent. The top industry in the area is healthcare, with other opportunities in finance, trade, and scientific research.

Montgomery

If you’re looking for a place where a salary or retirement fund goes a long way, look no farther than Montgomery.

Home prices are affordable, cost of living is low, and so are taxes.

There’s great opportunity for employment in the industries of manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare, and government. Some of the top companies in the area include Hyundai, Koch Foods, the Baptist Health System, and Maxwell Air Force Base.

Montgomery also has a prominent place in America’s Civil Rights Movement. You can visit the Rosa Parks Museum or Civil Rights Memorial.

What was once the home of Nat “King” Cole and the Fitzgeralds still has a lively arts scene with things like the Alabama Shakespeare Festival and places to go like the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts.

Huntsville

US News and World Report named Huntsville as the best place to live for 2022 out of 150 cities, and with good reason.

Homes in Huntsville are some of the most affordable around, and the area is a centrally located one that affords residents easy access to places like Birmingham, Nashville, and Atlanta.

The tech industry is a major player in terms of employment with companies like Facebook, LG, and Google having offices locally.

The city is also huge in the aerospace sector. Huntsville was integral in building the spacecraft that took men to the moon in the 1960s. There are over 3,900 aerospace engineers employed in the city.

Tuscaloosa

Home to the University of Alabama, this is a college football town. Tuscaloosa has incredible cultural and entertainment features thanks to its young population.

It also has a cost of living that is 12 points lower than the country’s average.

Employment in education is a major driver of the city’s economy, as is the recent opening of the Mercedes-Benz plant which triggered job growth for the area.

Residents here experience a high quality of living thanks to the renowned school system, ample job market, and downright southern hospitality their neighbors afford them.
